Miljøservice is Denmark’s largest player in the recycling of sewage sludge, whether it is reused as fertilizer on fields or disposed of through incineration or other methods.

Our solutions are aimed at agricultural recycling, and the reality is that the majority of sewage sludge in Denmark (up to 80%) is what we call biofertilizer – that is, sewage sludge approved for agricultural use.

Phosphorus from biofertilizer makes a significant contribution to reducing Denmark’s need to import synthetic phosphorus fertilizers. Phosphorus is, as we know, an essential element for life, but it is also a limited resource. As much as 25% of the national phosphorus demand in agriculture is met by biofertilizer – excluding phosphorus from livestock manure.

We are a natural partner for tasks that need to be solved either immediately or in the long term. That’s why we are always interested in participating in public tenders or submitting offers for projects.

With professional expertise and know-how, we ensure that valuable phosphorus is recycled within the food industry, while also reducing CO₂ emissions. In practical terms, we manage residual products at the production site, ensure transport to the field or another final disposal location, handle potential spreading on fields, storage in environmentally approved facilities, and any other practical task related to handling from production to end use. It’s second nature to us.

As part of ensuring reliable disposal, we also offer solutions for residual products that exceed threshold values for environmental contaminants, PFAS/PFOS, and/or heavy metals. We collaborate with partners who support these solutions. We continuously test new methods and implement new solutions.
