Biocompost

Nutrient content

The legally required nitrogen utilization rate is only about 10%, but trials conducted by Patriotisk Selskab show utilization rates of 20–30%, and feedback from our users confirms good nitrogen efficiency.

Information

Biocompost is a solid, “peat-like” product with a dry matter content of approximately 50–60%. The compost is screened through a 25 mm mesh and is free from foreign objects.

Biocompost may be used on all conventionally managed fields that receive less livestock manure than the equivalent of 30 kg of phosphorus (P) per hectare per year, and where the crop, according to the “Waste to Soil” regulation, is permitted to be fertilized with biocompost.
The rules for the use and application of biocompost are the same as for municipal biofertilizer, with the exception that there is no incorporation requirement. Therefore, it can be spread on winter crops in early spring without any issues.

Biocompost consists of a windrow-composted mixture of biofertilizer (sewage sludge), garden/park waste, screening residues from previous compost productions, and straw.

We Deliver Nationwide

Miljøservice serves the entire country and operates a wide network of leased storage facilities, strategically located near wastewater treatment plants and spreading areas. All of Miljøservice’s fertilizer products originate from the local area, minimizing transport and ensuring the lowest possible climate footprint. Additionally, the fertilizers—especially phosphorus—serve as a substitute for nutrients that would otherwise need to be imported from distant countries.

How to Proceed

You contact Miljøservice by phone, email, or through our website.

Based on the information you provide, Miljøservice prepares a delivery agreement and delivery notice, specifying the field number, field size in hectares, expected delivery time, and a field map. We also provide an overview of the content of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, along with suggestions for supplementary commercial fertilizer. You contact us—or we contact you—when the spreading time approaches.

Good Reasons to Use Biocompost

  • High carbon content.
  • Contains nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S). Depending on the facility, biocompost may also have liming value.
  • Minimal odor nuisance.
  • No incorporation requirement.
  • Legally required nitrogen utilization is low compared to actual field performance.
  • Dry matter content of 50–60%, making biocompost easy to spread.
